Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4

Bible Study Clubs

On fortnightly Tuesday evenings coinciding with the school year, the men gather together to study God’s word in a relaxed environment. Similarly the women meet on the ‘other’ Tuesday evenings. A Tuesday morning club for the women also convenes which provides convenience for young families.

Different Youth clubs also operate during a normal week. Younger youth (aged 13-15) meet weekly on Wednesdays evenings while older youth (aged 16+) meet weekly on Tuesday evenings.

Catechism Instruction

The youth of the church are given separate classes one evening per week. These classes are called “Catechism Classes”. The instruction material used is one of the church’s written confessions, namely:

the Heidelberg Catechism. (Link from the Canadian and American Reformed churches)

This question-and-answer style of confession takes the student through all the basic teachings of the Bible. Although this man-made confession is used as a tool, the Bible remains the basis for all teaching and is frequently opened and read in class. The goal of all this instruction is to build up the understanding and so the faith of the youth to the point where they desire to publicly profess their commitment to the Lord.

“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. ” Romans 4:4
