Byford Church – History

The Free Reformed Church of Byford was instituted on Sunday 27 January 1985 with 171 members. Initially, the group met for Sunday services in the local Byford Hall, but 2 years later, on 26 January 1987 the Byford Church building was officially opened and within this same year received its first minister and pastor, Rev C Bouwman from Canada. He served the congregation for 7 years and after a vacancy of 16 months, Rev W van der Jagt arrived from the Netherlands having accepted the call to serve in this congregation. (December 1995).

As a daughter church of FRC Armadale, with rapid growth, Byford soon became the mother church of Rockingham (1992), Bunbury (2001), Darling Downs (2003) Mundijong (2009), and Cardup Brook (2023).
